Week 3 of photography with Ms. Gately was mostly concentrated on ways to improve the photos we took at home. At first Ms. Gately put our pictures up on the board and we talked about how to make them better. Then we learned how to keep images in focus and keep them from blurring. We also learned how to use macro mode for taking close-ups. We got hand-outs with information on camera settings, common mistakes and things to look out for when buying a camera. Photography is great fun and we are looking forward to next week.

Enrichment Group Session 2, Photography
On the second week of the photography module in the enrichment group we focused on still life and patters. Like last week we began by looking at images taken by photo journalists. After we received inspiration, Ms. Gately gave us a class assignment. Each group was given a choice of two backgrounds of different colour and texture. Then we picked things to photograph such as school artefacts e.g. old school bell, 3D shapes, shells and marbles. We arranged these on the cloth that we chose in different ways. Then every girl in the enrichment group took photos from different angles to make them more interesting. After that we went out and photographed patterns in the school environment. We examined our images and found ways to improve them. At the end teacher gave us an assignment to take photos at home.

First Session, Photography
On Wednesday the 7th of March we started our enrichment club sessions after school. Our first module this year is photography, our teacher for photography is Ms. Gatley. The first part of the session was looking at a picture of a stingray that Ms. Gatley took in an aquarium in Lisbon. We then logged on to the "Irish Times" website and examined some of the unpublished pictures taken by professional photographers. Ms. Gatley then let us get into pairs and take pictures of each other.Ms. Gatley then gave us positive criticism on our photos. She then gave us some tips on how to improve our photography skills. It was a very enjoyable lesson and we're looking forward to next week's session.
